Welcome to "The Life in Our Years" interview series!
In 2016, I moved from Canada to the US to work as a dietitian at a nursing home. While I have been fortunate to gain experience in many areas of healthcare, I always felt that something was missing.
In 2019 after taking a break from work, I finally had the space to reflect on my experiences and I felt like there was a disconnect between me and my patients. While we often grumble about THAT family member or THAT demanding patient, my colleagues can all agree that there is a lack of transparency and understanding in our patient relationships. How can we blame our patients for not understanding our jobs when they never got the chance to hear our stories, our jobs and our own limitations? And to be honest, how many of us understand our own roles in this ever-changing landscape? Curated by Amy Chen, we will talk with healthcare workers from all over the country (and sometimes out of it!) and share with you about our experiences, our stories. Ultimately, you will see that we all have the same goal - we are passionate about improving your health and your lives. Join us, and learn about the life in our years. Disclaimer
